    SPEAKER HUBBARD ANNOUNCES COMMITTEE CHANGES

MONTGOMERY – Alabama Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) on Friday announced changes to the standing committees of the Alabama House of Representatives.

“Committee assignments are chosen based upon the skills and talents each member possesses, and each of these members have distinguished themselves among their colleagues,” said Hubbard. “I look forward to serving alongside each member in their new roles as we continue to do what is right for Alabama.”

Modifications were required after the passing of Representatives Dan Williams (R-Athens) and Lesley Vance (R-Phenix City) last year.

Highlights of the committee changes are as follows:
    ·         State Rep. Ken Johnson (R-Moulton) will serve as Chairman of the Financial Services Committee. Rep. Mack Butler (R-Rainbow City) will be Vice Chair of the committee.
    ·         State Rep. Donnie Chesteen (R-Geneva) will serve as Chairman of the Technology and Research Committee.
    ·         State Rep. Reed Ingram (R-Pike Road) will serve as Vice Chair of the County and Municipal Government Committee.
    ·         State Rep. Ed Henry (R- Hartselle) will serve as Vice Chair of the Ethics and Campaign Finance Committee.
    ·         State Rep. Jimmy Martin (R-Clanton) will serve as Vice Chair of the Insurance Committee. Reps. Randy Davis (R-Daphne) and Kyle South (R-Fayette) will sit on the committee.
    ·         Rep. Jim Patterson (R-Meridianville) will sit on the Ways and Means Education Committee as well as the Commerce and Small Business Committee.
    ·         Rep. Connie Rowe (R-Jasper) will hold a seat on the Ways and Means General Fund Committee.
    ·         Rep. Mike Holmes (R-Wetumpka) will sit on the Judiciary Committee.

Newly-elected Representative Chris Blackshear (R-Phenix City) will join the following committees: County and Municipal Government, Financial Services and Insurance.

The appointments take effect for the 2016 regular legislative session, which convenes on Tuesday.
